The New Zealand Diploma in IT Technical Support (Level 5) is designed to help learners gain a working knowledge and basic understanding of IT systems and networking concepts. The New Zealand Diploma in IT Technical Support is perfect for anyone wanting to start in an entry-level IT role. Graduates of the New Zealand Diploma in IT Technical Support will have an awareness of the IT environment, appreciate the needs of users, and will be able to provide IT technical support.

IT support professionals help people, colleagues, clients and customers who use computer software and hardware and they ensure networks and websites are working well. They often work in teams with other IT professionals such as Systems Engineers, Network Analysts and Database Administrators. They can progress into more senior technical roles.

This qualification provides a pathway to a Level 6 specialist IT qualification. This may include:

Other intended pathways include undergraduate degree qualifications. This qualification may also equip learners to attempt optional industry certifications at the appropriate level and area of specialty. This qualification provides an education pathway from:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User) (Level 3) [Ref: 2592]
  • New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Advanced User) (Level 4) [Ref: 2593]

Entry criteria

There are no mandatory prerequisites for this qualification.

Applicants must be 18 years or older

Learners enrolling are recommended to hold one of the following qualifications, or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.

• New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User) (Level 3)

• New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology (Level 5)

Proof of English Language status (IELTS or TOEFL test results, or evidence that your medium of instruction has been English).
