The Master of Nursing Science gives graduates from any bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) the chance to pursue a career in nursing. This programme is ideal for graduates who are ready for a change in career.

After successfully completing the Master of Nursing Science, graduates will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ).

What you study

You need a total of 240 points to complete the Master of Nursing Science.
Papers are taught at the AUT South Campus. Clinical placements can take place throughout Auckland.

  • NURS841 Integrative Practice 1 (45 points)
  • HEAL802 Applied Pathophysiology (15 points)
  • NURS842 Integrative Practice 2 (45 points)
  • HEAL811 Integrative Research (15 points)
  • NURS843 Integrative Practice 3 (30 points)
  • NURS844 Practical Leadership in Nursing (15 points)
  • PHMY801 Pharmacology Science (15 points)
  • NURS987 Transition Practicum (60 points)

Entry criteria

Must have completed the following or equivalent:

Bachelor’s degree with a B grade average or higher in papers at level 7

English Language Requirements:

IELTS (Academic) 7.0 overall with no band less than 7.0; TOEFL iBT score of 100; GIE with A grade; CAE minimum overall score of 185; PTE minimum overall score of 65.
