Summary
WIE’s English Studies for Nursing Registration (ESNR) programme prepares overseas-qualified, registered nurses to become a Registered Nurse in New Zealand. The goals of the programme are to: raise the level of the overseas-registered nurses’ standard of English to that required for nursing registration; prepare overseas-registered nurses’ for study in a New Zealand Institute of Technology or Polytechnic’s nursing programmes; assist overseas nurses to communicate more effectively in a NZ healthcare environment; assist overseas nurses to adapt to the expectations and culture of NZ nursing curriculum and workplace. The ESNR programme was specially designed to assist overseas qualified nurses to achieve an IELTS score of 7.0 or a 'B' pass in all four skill areas of listening, reading, writing and speaking. The programme itself consists of two courses IELTS Preparation or OET Preparation or working in NZ - Seminars and Workshops. The entry requirements for this programme are: a complete 4 year B.Sc. Nursing degree; current practicing certificate; registration as a nurse in own country; employment as a registered nurse in a practice setting in the last five years; IELTS (Academic Test) score of 6.0 across all bands.
