Eligibility Criteria

The Scholarship will be awarded to doctoral candidates who have paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees, for fulltime enrolment in the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Medicine or the research component of another approved doctorate in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.

The basis of selection will be academic merit, the quality of the research proposal or project, the candidate’s financial situation and endorsement by the proposed supervisor and host academic unit. Matters that may be considered in relation to academic merit include, but are not limited to, academic record, standing of awarding institute, academic references, CV and research and publication record. Where a qualifying programme with a grade point average (GPA) or grade point equivalent (GPE) is the basis of entry to the PhD, a candidate must have a GPA/GPE of at least 7.00 (6.50 for M?ori or Pacific candidates) in that programme to be eligible for scholarship consideration.

Tenure: Up to 3 years
