Quantity surveyors manage the finances of construction projects. A working day could include liaising with clients, industry professionals and site workers; measuring quantities of materials; estimating; preparing claims, cash flows and construction programmes, and much more.
Students in this programme will learn the practical skills for quantity surveying, including estimating and feasibility, quantification, pricing, and financial administration of a project during construction. With experience, students will be able to extend their work to include larger and more complex building projects and carry out tasks related to cost planning and financial control.
General admission
Applicants must hold one of the following:* NCEA Level 2 including 12 credits in mathematics (excluding statistics) and a minimum of 12 literacy credits at NCEA Level 1, or
Special admission
Anyone who is 20 years of age or older and has not reached the general admission requirements is eligible for Special Admission. We work with ākonga (learners) to ensure they are prepared for their intended programme.
Discretionary admission
Anyone who is not yet 20 years of age and has not reached the general admission requirements for their intended programme may be eligible for Discretionary Admission. In assessing whether to grant Discretionary Admission, the delegated authority focuses on the applicant's level of preparedness for their intended programme.
English language requirements
Applicants for whom English or te reo Māori is not a first language need to provide evidence that they have the necessary English language proficiency required for the programme. International applicants are required to have an IELTS (Academic) score of 6 with no individual band lower than 5.5 from a single test taken in the preceding two years, or PTE: (Academic) score of 50 with no band score lower than 42 or NZCEL: Level 4 (Academic).
