Summary
Now’s your chance to become a hair stylist. Learn the skills to get started in a salon in this hands-on, one-year course.
You learn how to perform beginning styling tasks like blow-drying, moulding, setting, and long hair-ups. You also learn how to mix, apply and remove colours.
Looking after customers is also part of this course. You learn how to carry out reception duties and provide limited client consultation. It all takes place at our professional training salon where you get to work with real clients.
This introductory course gets you started along your career pathway.
On completion you might decide to seek an apprenticeship, or continue with further study on our Level 4 course.
Upon successfully completing the requirements you'll receive the award of:

Standard Entry CriteriaAdmission, entry, selection, and enrolment into programmes will be in accordance with the Academic Regulations and/or, where approved, specific programme regulations.
For courses at levels 1-3, domestic and international students will be required to:

English Language RequirementsLevel 3 certificate IELTS General or Academic score of 5 with no band score lower than 5 or completed New Zealand Certificate in English Language Level 3 with an endorsement of either General, Workplace or Academic, or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined by NZQA.
