AUT's Certificate of Proficiency in Personal Training qualifies you to work as a personal trainer and fitness instructor.

Personal training course overview

This personal training course provides you with the knowledge and skills to assist clients in reaching their personal health and fitness goals. You will also learn vital business skills to help you succeed in a career either as a gym or studio-based contracted trainer, employee trainer or as an independent personal trainer.

• Business skills for personal training
• Exercise prescription for fat loss
• Flexibility (advanced)
• Lifespan development and medical conditions
• Nutrition for PTs
• Periodisation
• Programming for the overweight and deconditioned
• Soft tissue injury
• Weight training techniques (intermediate)

Delivery mode

Students are required to attend all in-person classes at the North Campus in addition to online self-study throughout the course. There are no online classes to attend.

By successfully completing the three courses for the Short Course in Personal Training, you could be a qualified personal trainer within 4-5 months.

• Certificate of Proficiency in Fitness Foundations
• Certificate of Proficiency in Fitness Instructing

After completing this personal training course
