Already have a degree in architecture? Study the Master of Architecture (Professional) to prepare yourself for a career as a registered architect.
Architecture focuses on the relationship between people and their environments. Study architecture at AUT and gain an understanding of the critical, ethical, aesthetic, social cultural and technological components of architecture and the design of sustainable future environments.
The programme is professionally accredited by the New Zealand Registered Architects Board. You’ll develop a critical approach to architectural design, become familiar with architectural history and contemporary architecture practice, and learn to apply Te Aranga Māori design principles to your work.
Entry criteria
Minimum entry requirements for the Master of Architecture (Professional)- Must have completed the Bachelor of Architecture and Future Environments or equivalent with a B grade average or higher in courses at level 7; or equivalent¹
- May be required to submit a portfolio of work, cover letter and/or attend a selection interview
International student entry requirements
English language requirements- IELTS (Academic) 6.5 overall with all bands 6.0 or higher; or equivalent.
1. Graduates of the Bachelor of Design Te Tohu Paetahi mō te Hoahoa in Spatial and Interior Design or Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Architectural Engineering may progress into the Master of Architecture (Professional). Admission is subject to an interview and completion of the Graduate Diploma in Architecture.
