The Postgraduate Diploma in the Practice of Psychology is designed to meet the requirements for registration as a psychologist under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance (HPCA) Act.
As a PGDipPracPsych (ABA) student, you will develop practical skills in applying behavioural principles, including conducting functional analyses and implementing behaviour-change programmes. Training focuses on designing assessments, collecting and interpreting data, and adapting interventions in response to emerging needs.
You will also build competency in meeting legal, ethical, cultural (including bicultural practice aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi), and professional requirements in accordance with New Zealand Psychologists Board guidelines.
Overall, graduates leave the programme with the knowledge, skills, and professional awareness needed to apply positive behavioural approaches in clinical and applied settings.
