Summary

Students will learn the core knowledge and practical skills required to meet the increasing demands and needs of the civil engineering industry.

This two-year programme will provide students with theoretical and technical knowledge to apply practical solutions to the design, construction, and maintenance of civil engineering infrastructure, from roads and bridges to harbours and water and wastewater facilities.

This engineering programme is accredited by Engineering New Zealand, a signatory of the Dublin Accord, meaning it is highly respected and recognised both nationally and internationally.

Entry criteria

General academic admission

  1. Candidates are required to have gained:
  1. NCEA Level 2*
  2. a minimum total of 48 NCEA credits at Level 2 in four subjects, including at least 12 credits in Mathematics (preferably from achievement standards in algebra, calculus or trigonometry); or
  3. equivalent qualifications (e.g. International Baccalaureate or Cambridge); or
  4. equivalent credits from trades training and/or demonstrated skills and experience, and
  • a minimum of 10 literacy credits at Level 1 or higher (for those who achieved NCEA Level 2 before 2013).
