Summary

The Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) prepares students to become IT professionals with a breadth of knowledge across a range of IT sub-disciplines, and a depth of understanding in a specialisation, allowing them to lead and become strong participants in IT team projects. The BIT comprises 23 courses, including compulsory and elective courses from: Computer Networks, Information Systems and Software Development. All BIT students are issued with their own laptop and receive the necessary free Microsoft software.

Entry criteria

Entrants will be a minimum of 17 years of age; require NCEA level 3 with 14 credits each in 3 subjects including 9 credits in maths; or NCEA level 2 with 14 credits each in 4 subjects including 15 credits in maths; or a level 4 qualification in computing; or equivalent overseas qualification. Entrants will have at least 80% in the IT Proficiency Assessment and an English level of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent (in the case of students for who English is not their first language).
